The packet switching is sending data to a computer network. A package is a group of information consisting of two parts: the actual data and control information, which is specified to follow the path along the network to the destination of the packet. A thousand bytes in length is the upper limit of the packages, and if the message is longer fragments into other packages. If there were a technique of switching the communication between two nodes, one would have to bind in the form of mesh. An additional advantage of packet switching (in addition to the security of data transmission) is packaged as part of the message, it is being assembled in a more rapid in the destination node, as they are using various ways the message, producing a phenomenon known as parallel transmission.

The UMTS network structure consists of two subnets: the telecommunications network and network management. The first is responsible for sustaining the flow of information between the ends of a connection. The second mission is the means for billing and charging subscribers, registration and definition of service profiles, management and security of their data management and operation of network elements, in order to ensure the proper functioning of the latter, detection and resolution of faults or anomalies, or even the performance recovery after periods of shutdown or disconnection of some of its elements. In this section we will analyze only the first of the two sub-networks, i.e., the telecommunication.
